CLC Newsflash! LCC les Dépêches!

The CLC sends out periodic newsflashes to keep our membership informed of CLC activities and composer opportunities. We currently send out materials in the language in which it is received; our intention in the future, once we have sufficient resources, is to send out messages in both official languages.

The Canadian League of Composers presents:

- Cultivating Your Career -

A workshop for composers at all stages of their careers

This workshop is a new initiative presented by The Canadian League of Composers designed to foster professional growth for composers at any stage of their careers.  It will take place from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on February 6, 2010 at the Cantos Music Foundation.

In the Presenters Panel (10:00AM-11: 30AM), some of Alberta’s most active presenters, with national and international connections in diverse contemporary musical media, will discuss their visions, what they’re looking for when programming a season, how composers can best promote their music, and challenges and opportunities in the changing contemporary music scene.  A Tour of the Cantos keyboard collection (11:30AM-12:00PM) and Lunch (12:00PM-1:00PM) are included. The Composers Panel (1:00PM-3:15PM) features five freelance composers with many years’ diverse experience discussing financial and artistic survival in today’s economic climate as well as opportunities in the changing workplace.  From 3:30PM to 5:00PM, Victor Davies and James Rolfe lead a workshop on self-promotion for composers. Participants will have ample opportunities to ask questions, share their experiences, network, and make connections to the community.
