The CLC sends out periodic newsflashes to keep our membership
informed of CLC activities and composer opportunities. We currently
send out materials in the language in which it is received; our
intention in the future, once we have sufficient resources, is to send
out messages in both official languages.

Presenting Music in Global Places
IAMIC & The Canadian Music Centre & The Canadian League of Composers
Monday, June 8, 2009
2:00pm - 6:00pm
Morris J Wosk Centre for Dialogue, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver
Fee: $10 - Includes refreshments and reception.
Welcome to the 2009 Vancouver Symposium, as part of the International Association of Music Information Centres’ (IAMIC) Annual Conference . The annual IAMIC conference is an international reunion of new music specialists and an educational event with seminars and discussions on all aspects of new music promotion, performance, policy and politics. It is
also a planning platform for IAMIC internal development.
Each year, a different member organization hosts this event. This year Canada is honoured to host delegates from around the world. The Canadian Music Centre is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2009, and it is for this reason especially honoured to have esteemed music guests from around the world joining us. In conjunction with the conference, a symposium is held and is open to members of the arts community.
The afternoon sessions consist of two panels. First is International Market Development Opportunities: Elements of an International Market Development Tool Kit, featuring Tyl van Toorn (TNT Productions, Netherlands), from 200 to 330PM. The second is Multi-Culture: The Canadian Experience: Embracing Cultural Diversity at Every Level, Understanding Advantage and Benefits in Exploring International markets, featuring panelists Amir Ali Alibhai (Greater Vancouver Alliance for Arts and Culture), L. Mark Armanini (composer and Co-artistic Director, Vancouver Intercultural Orchestra) and Hiranjan Rajah (Simon Fraser University), from 345 to 500PM. A reception follows from 500 to 600PM.
