The CLC sends out periodic newsflashes to keep our membership informed of CLC activities and composer opportunities. We currently send out materials in the language in which it is received; our intention in the future, once we have sufficient resources, is to send out messages in both official languages.

Workshop to be held in Winnipeg on November 18th
You are invited to attend an exciting new initiative from the Canadian League of Composers. Are you aware of the money that is available to you, as a composer?
Are you confident in your ability to write an effective grant or foundation application?
The Canadian League of Composers has undertaken a new initiative to bring professional development workshops to composers. The workshops are open to both emerging and established composers who are looking to advance their skills in a variety of fields. The workshop, Grant Writing for the Professional Composer, is to be held Sunday November 18 at the Place Louis Riel Hotel. Michael Jones, one of the best arts administrators in the country, will lead the workshop. 10

Atelier Rédaction de demandes de subvention par le compositeur professionnel
Vous êtes invité(e) à assister à un nouveau projet formidable de la Ligue canadienne des compositeurs. Savez-vous qu’il y a des sommes auxquelles vous avez accès en tant que compositeur ? Avez-vous confiance en vos aptitudes à remplir une demande de subvention auprès d’une agence gouvernementale ou d’une fondation ?
La Ligue canadienne des compositeurs a mis sur pied un projet d’ateliers de perfectionnement professionnel à l’intention des compositeurs. Les ateliers sont offerts autant aux compositeurs en début de carrière qu’aux compositeurs établis qui cherchent à parfaire leurs habiletés dans plusieurs domaines.
L’atelier sur la Rédaction de demandes de subvention par le compositeur professionnel aura lieu le dimanche 18 novembre à l’Hôtel Place Louis Riel, à Winnipeg. Michael Jones, l’un des meilleurs administrateurs au pays dans le domaine des arts, dirigera l’atelier.

Aim: To encourage the creation of new musical works for children for choral performance
Conditions of participation include:
• In the competition have the right to participate all kinds of candidates, regardless of age and nationality.
• The text can be in written in any language, using Latin or Cyrillic alphabet. If the text is not on Latin or Cyrillic alphabet, then there should be a transcription in English below the original text. If the language is different from Bulgarian, English, Russian, German, French, there must be enclosed a free translation in English.
• The competition has one category: Musical work for children`s choir (up to 18 years of age)
• deadline the 10th of March 2008
