History

The Canadian League of Composers is the oldest organization that speaks for professional composers in a professional capacity. It endeavours to represent the best interests of composers and to monitor and influence the conditions that affect their livelihood and public image.

The Canadian League of Composers was organized in 1951.

The League's activities are directed by an executive and a National Council, an elected board comprised of 12 members representing the various regions of Canada. Financial support for the League is derived from members annual dues and an annual grant from The SOCAN Foundation.
